We’re back with a full episode! The topic is ‘haunted schools’, and we ruffled something’s feathers with this one. Nick tells of the many hauntings of Alabama’s University of Montevallo, and Cait breaks down one of El Paso’s many haunted public schools. As if that wasn’t enough haunted happenings, Nick and Cait experienced a handful of ghostly activities while recording the episode itself! Take a break from all this mayhem with a cocktail suitable for any school cold lunch!

Don’t have access to ginger vodka? Sub in your favorite unflavored vodka and ginger simple syrup (you can use our simple syrup recipe, just simmer chunks of ginger in the water until it reaches the desired strength of taste, remove ginger chunks, then add sugar and complete recipe).
Finally, our poor noise-to-signal ratio finally works in our favor! We’re talking about (and making) noise, and we start with a look at a bowling ghost that was exposed by the quiet of the pandemic. Next, an Indianapolis poltergeist that disturbed the whole neighborhood, and we finish with a phantom bugle whose tone reverberates throughout history. And all this shifting of the volume has inspired a drink that keeps cranking the favor up and down on you to stay electric with every sip!
The YouTube video about the Forest Grove Phantom Noise and other mysterious noises can be found here.

1.5 oz chilled hibiscus tea (we used Tazo Passion)
1.5 oz charred pineapple purée
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake until slightly frothy and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with pineapple. (We also used some Coconut Lime finishing salt from Salinity Salts.)
For the charred pineapple purée: Grill fresh pineapple slices (stove top grilling, barbecue grill or even a George Forman will work) until part of the pineapple is charred and the juices are bubbling. Let cool. Combine equal parts grilled pineapple and pineapple juice in a blender with juice of half a lime and blend on high until smooth.
You drink the whiskey drink. You drink the vodka drink. You drink the lager drink. You drink the cider drink. Sing the songs that remind you of the good times. Sing the songs that remind you of the best times.
It’s April Fool’s Day, and the gloves are off! Nick is coming in hot with a celebrated trickster spirit from Wisconsin, Cait preys on Nick’s fears of duende with tales of the Saci, and they both work to screw with each other where they can, as is the custom of the holiday. Cait brings in a traditional Brazilian drink fit for an evil dwarf (eventually), and we take a swing at fictional horror story podcasts (YOU know we love you!).

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until well chilled and strain into a chilled martini glass. Don’t be afraid to add a little simple syrup if you like a sweeter drink.
We’ve got a guest! We’re almost like a real podcast now! In this episode, Nick and Cait sit down with Amanda R. Woomer of spookeats.com to talk about her haunted restaurant and hotel website, her origin and adventure in hospitality paranormal research, and about her newest book, “The Feminine Macabre”, a compendium journal written exclusively by women in the paranormal field. Afterwards, Cait discusses some of her own haunted restaurant experiences, and creates a spooky yet feminine take on the classic Cosmopolitan.
Unlike most of our episodes, this one was recorded for video first and audio second. To get the extended video version of this episode, head on over to our YouTube page.
Amanda R. Woomer runs the paranormal investigation site spookeats.com. For ordering information on “The Feminine Macabre” or to see submission guidelines for Volume II, click here. To see the rest of Amanda’s books visit Spook-Eats store page.

Drizzle honey around interior of serving glass. Combine whiskey, vodka, lemon, berries & sage in a shaker & muddle with ice. (Pro tip: Clap fresh herbs between your hands before placing in cocktails to release the flavor.) Dump shaker contents (including ice!) into serving glass and top with ginger ale.
