Episode 19 – El Paso or Fail Class

Show Notes

We’re back with a full episode! The topic is ‘haunted schools’, and we ruffled something’s feathers with this one. Nick tells of the many hauntings of Alabama’s University of Montevallo, and Cait breaks down one of El Paso’s many haunted public schools. As if that wasn’t enough haunted happenings, Nick and Cait experienced a handful of ghostly activities while recording the episode itself! Take a break from all this mayhem with a cocktail suitable for any school cold lunch!

Clip Show: It Came From the Cutting Room Floor!

Show Notes

It’s new to you! Due to some health-related difficulties, we weren’t able to record an episode in time to get released on schedule, so we’ve done the next best thing: dug a bunch of unused clips out of the garbage and hastily glued them together. It works for the last minute Science Fair project in every sitcom ever, so it can work for us! Enjoy our favorite least-favorite moments from the early episodes of the podcast, and we’ll be back with a proper episode in two weeks!

This episode features the music of Chocolat Billy. Be sure to check them out on Spotify or on Bandcamp.

Episode 17 – Bugle Boy Genes

Show Notes

Finally, our poor noise-to-signal ratio finally works in our favor! We’re talking about (and making) noise, and we start with a look at a bowling ghost that was exposed by the quiet of the pandemic. Next, an Indianapolis poltergeist that disturbed the whole neighborhood, and we finish with a phantom bugle whose tone reverberates throughout history. And all this shifting of the volume has inspired a drink that keeps cranking the favor up and down on you to stay electric with every sip!

Episode 16 – Decap Attack!

Show Notes

In this episode we spend a lot of time discussing hobos, ice cream, and decapitations, which is really unfortunate, because the episode’s topic was supposed to be haunted roadside attractions. On a road trip absolutely plump full of detours, side-stops, and the occasional breakdown, Nick shares ghostly tales about America’s first National Park, Yellowstone. Then Cait takes us on a tour of accidents, apparitions, and ashes at the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland! All this, plus a boozy frozen treat specially designed to beat the summertime heat!

Episode 15 – Death Below the 49th Parallel

Show Notes

The borders may still be closed, but Nick and Cait are taking a trip to Canada anyway. Victoria, BC is one of their favorite places, and with Victoria Day is just around the corner, it only seems right to tell stories of ghosts and murder in The Garden City. First, Cait tells us about some of the many permanent residents of the Empress Hotel, then Nick tells the story of ethereal axe-murder Kanaka Pete. Then Cait ties all the pieces together with a Canadian whiskey tiki drink that celebrates Victoria’s relationship with multiculturalism. How ya doin’, eh?

Episode 14 – Secret Origins

Show Notes

It’s almost Mother’s Day, so we decided to bring in the woman who made it all happen, our own mother Shanna McDonald! She helps us explore the secret origins of the McDonalds’ obsession with the paranormal and help clarify some of the sketchier details. We share family paranormal encounters from three generations, including the haunted house in which Nick and Cait grew up, strange alien-like encounters in the Applegate region, and all manner of Southern Oregon weirdness! Top it off with a spicy sazerac straight from Momma’s heart, and you’ve got an episode you won’t find anywhere else!

Episode 13 – It’s Britneys (plural), Bitch!

Show Notes

What do Billy Ray Cyrus, Joan Rivers, and Britney Spears have in common? If you said a restraining order on us, you’re not wrong, but, also, encounters with ghosts! This episode is all about celebrity ghosts encounters, so we’re looking into Billy Ray Cyrus’s best phantom friend, Joan Rivers’s adventures in ghostbusting, and the haunted house that may have tormented both Britney Spears AND Brittany Murphy. Plus, we kind of sort of invent a drink last second on the air!

Episode 12 – Not About Wrestling

Show Notes

It’s April Fool’s Day, and the gloves are off! Nick is coming in hot with a celebrated trickster spirit from Wisconsin, Cait preys on Nick’s fears of duende with tales of the Saci, and they both work to screw with each other where they can, as is the custom of the holiday. Cait brings in a traditional Brazilian drink fit for an evil dwarf (eventually), and we take a swing at fictional horror story podcasts (YOU know we love you!).

Episode 005 – Christmas Special 2020

Episode Notes

Holiday tidings to you all! Once upon a time, it was traditional to gather family and friends together on Christmas Eve and share tales of ghosts and spirits to scare and delight each other, a tradition that sorely needs to make a come back in our opinion!

So in this special episode, join Nick and Cait for a classic Victorian Christmas Eve, where we chill the air with tales of ghostly fur trappers, haunted hot springs, and a ghost named ‘Daddy’. It’s a double-length episode! That means Cait runs out of alcohol, Nick does NOT, and chaos and over-sharing ensue.

Unfortunately, the Tom & Jerry Batter talked about in this episode didn’t come together in time to have the recipe published along-side the episode (stay tuned, we WILL post it in the future). But, being the holidays, we’ve included some additional recipes (not always of the drink variety!) to make up for the loss, as well as because, hey, it’s Christmas!
